Goddess Juxtaposed

Each photograph depicts a goddess in her created landscape, using contemporary symbols via clothing and structures that correspond to a modern translation of the myth, and my understanding and reconstruction of that myth. The gender norms the goddesses become mired down in reflect our own society, and our empathy with their stories is what makes them important. Any woman can look at these figures as part of a community of people questioning their sexual identity, while l poke fun at my own trite angst on the topic. I question gender and my ideals through the mirror of the physical self with humor, cynicism and ferocity.
